Atheists, Monuments and Random Thoughts.

Again, the whole church and state thing rears it’s tiresome, ugly head.  It seems that the Freedom From Religion Foundation has taken up the charge against a Woonsocket RI. memorial that, gasp, has a cross on it. Oh, and the fire department website had a prayer on it too.  God forbid!

Unfortunately it seems the fire department has been cowed into compliance with the FFRF belief that anyone in public employ shouldn’t make their faith known. Lucky for them they are based in Wisconsin and not Woonsocket.  Messing with the people who have the job of pulling your atheist ass out of a burning building isn’t especially bright. Florida man mistakes girlfriend for hog, shoots her | The Sideshow – Yahoo! News

He saw a hog and thought he shot it and went to look for it,” Maj. Steve Clair of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office told ABC News. “He heard her and thought it was a hog and just shot.

The second accidental wife shooting story today.  This one was accidentally mistaken for a hog, and shot.  It should be obvious where I am going to go with.  In fact it’s so obvious I’m not even gonna go there,

As it turns out the wife wasn’t mistaken visually as a hog, she just sounded like one. Our erstwhile hunter had shot a hog earlier and was in the process of finding his lost bacon. Continue reading

NEW YORK (Reuters) – A New York woman who donated a kidney so her ailing boss would move up the transplant waiting list says she was fired shortly after the operation, according to a complaint she filed with the New York State Division of Human Rights.

I guess it is true that no good deed goes unpunished.

Man Posts Photo of Gas Theft from Police Car on Facebook

JENKINS, Ky. (AP) – There it was on Facebook for all to see — Michael Baker with a gas can, a siphon hose stuck into a police cruiser in eastern Kentucky and a middle finger raised.

DING, DING, DING, We have a winner!  You can go read the rest of it but all you need to know is in the excerpt above.  Steal gas from cop rocket, photograph, post on facebook.  That is the trifecta of stew-pit.

What else is there to say?  If I had anything to give away as the stew-pit prize of the week, I’d give it to this tool.

Man with Name Tattoo Tries to Give False Name to Police

Man with Name Tattoo Tries to Give False Name to Police.

Read the above story.  It’s kind of funny.  A man with his name tattooed on his arm tried to give a cop a false name.  That is funny, I have to admit that.

Now, if your thinking about this stops there, shame on you.  I know he was a bad dude, and that he needs to answer for whatever crimes he committed.

Now, are we still thinking?  Can you guess where I am going with this?  Do you remember how it got to the point where his identity was questioned?  That’s right.  He was walking with a couple of other guys and a dog.  A cop told them to move to the sidewalk.  Then said cop claims the scumbag “Looked like wanted to run away.”   Continue reading

Drones coming to a sky near you as interest surges – Yahoo! News

I saw that headline on Yahoo news and it made me cringe.  There is no way allowing authorities the use of drones to listen to cell phone signals or scan the area with cameras is not a breach of privacy.

If these people in favor of this had their way they would have the capability of looking at or listening to just about anything they want.  National security my ass.  This is just the nanny state trying to sneak one by you, again. Continue reading

Huh? Who Deserves What?

It’s getting closer to election time.  I don’t give a crap about commercials and the like.  I don’t listen to speeches.  Primary day is exactly a month away here in Little Rhody.  It’s about this time I start listening, right?

No. Not after what I read this morning.  It threw a light on for me and now I don’t know why we even bother anymore.  No matter what candidates we end up having to choose between they will be part of the entrenched elite upper class.  Well, that’s how they see themselves. Continue reading

Barbers, beauticians get snippy over striped poles – Yahoo! News

ST. PAUL, Minn. AP — Friendly arguments aren’t hard to find in a barbershop, but try cutting in on a hallowed symbol — that red, white and blue pole — and it may be time to hide the scissors.

I don’t know why this struck such a chord with me.  A sour, out of tune one at that.  I am in full agreement with the real barbers on this one.

It’s not just a guy thing.  It’s not just those Saturday mornings as a kid when dad took you to the barbershop. The one with the brook outside and the antique cash register and the great big mirror. It’s not even about all the crusty old guys who all smelled of Vitalis. It’s not even about the friendly elderly barber with an eye patch that never did really cause you to leave with a band aid. It’s about skills. Continue reading
